October saw the end of our very successful gardening year at Little Weighton CE Primary School .A crop of potatoes, pumpkins, sweetcorn and carrots were amongst the vegetables harvested on our Dig It Up Day.

Vegetables were displayed at the Harvest Service and then used in cooking. Harvest donations of flowers and dried goods were much appreciated. Dried goods were taken to Jacob’s Well and loaded onto a lorry for Africa, to help people in areas where crops have failed. The flowers were taken to the elderly of the village with invitations to join the school on Coffee with Carols Day in
December. Flowers were greeted with delight and the children enjoyed visiting enormously.

Viking Day in November was an exciting time for the older children .They baked Viking bread and made soup. Art and craft work was made even more fun since the children and staff dressed in
Viking costumes for the day.

Friends of the School have been busy this term arranging a Film Night .Children from the school enjoyed watching “UP” and having the opportunity to socialise in an out of school situation .

Coffee mornings are proving popular. These half-termly” get togethers” are organised by Alex Young, our Extended School Co-ordinator .Alex is based at Cottingham High School
